HOW THE GUITAR LABS WORK (See Tabs to the left for Lab Descriptions)

• The Guitar labs are our recreational part time courses. They are for adults and teens. We group people by level of ability and interest to create the most effective and comfortable learning environment - and the most enjoyable experience.
Too young? Check out Rock Band Junior in Other Training Options.
• Most labs follow a similar format, they're different to a traditional guitar workshop or clinic, and very different to a guitar class you might take at school. How? The first half is typically in the classroom (between 6 - 12 students) and the second half is all about application. That means using what you're learning. This way students learn from their instructor and their fellow students. The Instructor shares his time between a few small groups giving more specific and personal attention to your development. The end of each lab is given to performance techniques and band skills.
• We have 3 levels of Guitar Labs.
Foundational, Intermediate and then Specialized labs which are Intermediate - Advanced. The goal is to work your way up through the levels until you are an accomplished and seasoned musician. At this point some students will choose to do one of our Professional Music Programs.
• Students in our Intermediate or Specialized labs may be asked to perform at one of our Showcases. Those that excell may be asked to perform at our end of year show at Down Town Brew.
• All of our Guitar Labs happen after school and after work hours. They are between one hour and 90 minutes long. We do labs Monday through Thursday. Our Professional Music Programs happen week day afternoons. We are closed in the mornings.
• With our Foundational Guitar Labs, and Intermediate Guitar Labs,we have a monthly tuition system so students can do the programs as long as they need to to build their foundation. These "Clubs" run year round with Winter, Spring and Summer Breaks. The Beginners club is one hour a week, and the other clubs are all one hour and 15 minutes per week.
• For our Specialized Labs, students come to Modern Music Academy once a week for an 8 week term. Each lab is designed as a complete product (so you could just take one quarter) but is far more effective if you take a series of labs and layer the courses to suit your personal style and goal. We run Winter Guitar Labs, Spring, Early Fall and Late Fall.
• In the summer we take a break but we do offer summer camp type day programs & intensives, as well as jam nights.
If a student started from square one with us, and took every lab we offer, they'd be busy for years! - And they'd be an amazing musician! We have some students who have done exactly that, and they're now in our Professional Music Programs.
